Consolidation and restoration of the central roofs of Villa Pisani

Villa Pisani is a monumental, late-Baroque palace located along the Brenta Canal (Riviera del Brenta) near the town of Stra, on the mainland of the Veneto.

This villa is one of the largest examples of Villa Veneta located in the Riviera del Brenta, the canal linking Venice to Padua. In its 144 rooms doges, kings and emperors were welcomed and nowadays it is a national museum which conserves eighteenth and nineteenth century works of art and furniture, as Gianbattista Tiepolo’s masterpiece, The Glory of the Pisani family, a fresco on the ceiling of the ballroom.

The designed intervention planned the restoration of the central part of the roofs, corresponding to the Ballroom roof, with the important fresco made by Tiepolo.

Interventions are oriented to the maximum conservation of the existing elements, removing only the damaged parts of the wooden truss, inserting new steel or wooden elements only where strictly necessary to retrofit the existing structure to the actual standards.
New waterproofing will be also inserted removing and repositioning the original tiles, providing a new thermal insulation in order to mitigate the thermal shock inside the garret above the Tiepolo fresco.
